Originally written for his son, Ian Fleming’s book became the much loved 1968 film
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. A sensational score by the renowned Sherman Brothers
(Richard and Robert) includes such unforgettable songs as “Truly Scrumptious”,
“Toot Sweets”, Hushabye Mountain”, and of course the Oscar-nominated title song,
“Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”.
Reaching a new generation throuagh an enthralling and enchanting stage musical,
CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG details the fantastic adventures of the out-of-the-
ordinary magical car that flies through the air and sails the seas, the eccentric
inventor Caratacus Potts and his two children Jemima and Jeremy, alongside Truly
Scrumptious and Grandpa Potts, who are all trying to outwit the dastardly Baron
Bomburst and the evil Child Catcher.
The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang production team has a wonderful variety of talent. From
two very experienced and life members of the company in Greg Derry as Director
and Michael Partridge as Musical Director. Assistant Director is Stephanie Derry
who has grown up in the society. Assistant Musical Director is Brigette Johnson a
young lady with loads of talent. Costume designer is Tiffany Derry who has
costumed a number of shows and has an amazing flare for costuming. First time
choreographer with WMTC is Courtney Randall who is very talented and a
passionate dance instructor who has choreographed exciting dance numbers for this
show. Ian Abbott heads up the set design and building team. The combination of
this production team is an exciting show you do not want to miss.
This year marks 21 years for Wyong Musical Theatre Company and we have seen
many changes during this time, with shows now performed in The Art House and the
Grove Theatre. We are extremely proud of the quality of performances that we are
able to bring to the Wyong community. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is our second show
in The Art House this year and our company has stepped up to the challenge of this
mega show. With nearly seventy cast and an ever-growing team of support crew
helping make this show happen. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to
bring community theatre to the coast so please come along as this show will be truly
